SUMMER OF '69-VEGAS OR BUST

SATURDAY NIGHT WAS "THE GUESS WHO"
SUNDAY NIGHT WAS "BLOOD,SWEAT, AND TEARS"
MILES LOOKING HIS BEST FOR A NIGHT OUT W/MOM
We have had quite a weekend. 1st Friday night we drove out to Boulder City & went to the Best DAM Bbq Challenge which was quite fun. BC is a small town so alot less people and alot friendlier. The event had live music, bbq and a great park for the kids. We only stayed a few hours but had some great food, good music and met some real friendly people.
Saturday we really relaxed during the day, at one point went went to see KOMP 92.3 for a ticket giveaway and we WON a few tickets to different upcoming events. Then at 9pm we Miles & Melissa headed downtown to the "Summer of '69" concert series featuring, "The Guess Who".
Sunday & Today are just a lazy days to recharge for another stretch before the 4th of July break.
Miles will be finishing 2nd grade soon and turning 8 on June 23rd so he is very excited about this upcoming summer. He has been working hard everyday on his skating, which now consumes his nearly all his time, but he loves it.
We don't have a vacation per se planned for this summer but we do anticipate making a day trip or 2 daytrip to Los Angeles to go to the beach, some skateparks and some other fun stuff. Gotta watch the $$ nowadays so it will be on the Cheap.
We are looking at moving to new apartments once our lease is up in June, prices at better places are now $100/mo less for 2 bdrms than we pay now, so it only makes $$ sense to go bigger for less. Miles needs his own space.
Well I haven't heard from anyone in my family in quite a long time so I think I may have been disowned but IF anyone reads this give us a call, send us an email, just let us know how life is treating you.
I follow everyone online so I know Sara has adopted a little girl from China and moved back to Iowa, Mike is going into forced-retirement, Mom is ever busy in the garden, blogging and the like. I haven't heard from Sean or Jen since around Christmas but I assume they are doing the same old stuff. And everyone is planning a reunion somewhere sometime in August.
GO to Twitter , sign up, follow me-offthestrip , and we can keep in touch anywhere, anytime. For online use go with Twhirl for Cell phone use go with TwitterFon. You can send pics, links, videos or whatever Instantly.
Happy Memorial Day Everyone! Much love from Las Vegas.

this post makes me so sad. today i miss you guys so very, very much. we are home most of the time these days. gas is high again. we don't even get to nauvoo to see mom and dad like we should. mallory is busy with her activities-she does everything. she plays softball, clarinet, piano, dances in group, dances solo, has math club, graduated 8th grade, and has alot of friends she likes to hang with. we try to see her once a month but her visits here are more and more rare. we email and chat on the phone. we don't see sean and jenn very much either. now school is out, we want to have the girls over some but they are so hard to get ahold of. sean just doesn't answer the phone. jenn works but i never know when. they got a cute dog for xmas-maddy. they used their tax money to remodel their bathroom and take out the one upstairs. he sent pictures and it looks really nice. we think he is happy with his life. they do seem to be doing very well. they never complain about anything---well, sean doesn't complain-LOL. he has been in the hospital 3 times in the last 2 years and it's never the same thing twice. he just gets weak from some bug going around and it gets too serious too fast and he needs the ivs. thank goodness he has a great doctor and good insurance.
mom and dad are doing ok. we talk every week or so. they are aging pretty fast now. mom seems so frail and dad is so forgetful. patty takes care of them.
mike and i are doing ok. this the last week of mike's severance pay. next week he goes on unemployment--no more insurance or life insurance and only about 65% of what he was making before and now he has to go to two places each week in search of a job. we can pay our utilities and the house & trucks are paid for. medical and groceries and gas will have to be carefully budgeted. I am going to look into AARP. we still have 9 dogs to look after. clifford is getting pretty old. he and tate both have cataracts and are gray as can be. males age harder than the females.
i miss you, son. i know i'm not the best mom in the world but if i could just hug you once in a while, i know i would feel so much better. i have missed so much of your boy's growing up. i feel like an outsider. please tell him how much we both love him because mike loves him, too. we look at pictures on the computer and miles pictures always bring smiles to our faces. i printed out the picture of you three in the weiner cut-outs and framed it for my bedroom wall.....that makes me smile...please try to come home for a couple days in august. it just may be your last chance to see mom and dad. mom is always asking about miles---send her a picture now and then

dude,

i am here. i think of you often. i talk about you some too. mostly bad..i mean good. haha. I wonder how your family is & if you are staying out of trouble and i wonder what miles is up to -

we are good. we are living in iowa - though we haven't moved into our actual HOUSE yet - hoping to this week. need a place to set some roots down - get the kids out on their bikes and slip & slides! It is HOT here!!!! Colorado was amazing. I was excited to come back to iowa - but you know that feeling, it goes away!!!!!!

our kids are fine. they are 10, 7 & 3. and driving me crazy. about all i can handle. I keep thinking this is what mom had - 2 boys & a girl. Ugh. How did she function? (oh yeah, was it the little blue pills?) hahaha. anyways, i think mya needs a sister. it is nice the boys have each other, but then there's mya...all alone and fighting like mad with carter. awesome stuff.

my car is too small for another kid.

and quite frankly, we are broke!

and I'm tired.

and MAYBE a little chunky. nothing a little running won't cure when i am not living out of a paper sack for meals and a suitcase.

post more often pal, miss you!

love,
sara

p..s isn't miles' shirt exactly like the ones Charlie Harper wears on 2 1/2 men?? The bowling shirts? I want one!!!
