FINISHING HIS HOMEWORK IN THE "LEARNING CENTER"

NOW THAT MILES IS BACK TO SCHOOL HE'S BACK TO AFTERSCHOOL AT THE CLUB. THEY HAVE A BIG SCREEN TV, PING PONG,POOL TABLES,A PLAYGROUND,A FOOTBALL & BASEBALL FIELD W/BATTING CAGES,2 BASKETBALL COURTS, THE LEARNING CENTER,A CRAFT ROOM,A COMPUTER LAB AND MUCH MUCH MORE. IT'S HARD TO GET HIM TO LEAVE.
OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND WE HAD AN INCIDENT AT OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX. MILES WAS OUTSIDE RIDING HIS SKATEBOARD WITH ONE OF HIS FRIENDS AND SOME TEENS KNOCKED HIM DOWN & STOLE HIS ACTION FIGURES HE HAD IN HIS HAND. WHEN HE CAME TO THE DOOR CRYING HYSTERICALLY-YOU CAN PROBABLY GUESS MY REACTION. WHEN SOMEONE MESSES WITH MY SON, AGE IS IRRELEVANT. I WENT DOWN TO THE PARK AND CALMLY ASKED THE KIDS THERE (THE ONES MILES WAS POINTING OUT) IF THEY HAD HIS TOYS ETC AND OF COURSE THEY GOT ALL COCKY & MOUTHY WITH ME, SO I DEMANDED TO KNOW THEIR APARTMENT # & PARENTS NAMES & ONE OF THE TEENS GOT RIGHT IN MY FACE. WELL IF YOU WANNA STAND UP LIKE A MAN YOU BETTER BE PREPARED TO FALL LIKE A MAN. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE COPS WERE CALLED AND AFTER INTERVIEWING ALL PARTIES INVOLVED I WAS FOUND TO BE IN THE RIGHT AND THE KIDS WERE SENT TO JUVENILE HALL AFTER THEY RETURNED MILES' TOYS. THEY WERE SUBSEQUENTLY CHARGED WITH STRONG-ARM ROBBERY. MILES WASN'T HURT PHYSICALLY BUT HE WAS SCARED BECAUSE THE BOYS WERE REAL BIG. AT LEAST AS BIG AS ME. NOW MILES HAS TO STAY IN THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF BEING ABLE TO RUN AROUND THE PARK WITH HIS FRIENDS. HE'S PISSED BUT AT LEAST HE'S SAFE. AND YES I'D DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

OMG That poor kid. I know how horrible that can be. Bullies come in all sizes and colors. It's hardto stand up when they are so much bigger than you.I'm sorry this happened, Miles, but Dad is right. You should be staying real close to home and go only with adult, responsible supervision. There are too many bullies ( and perverts) in the world. We love you so much that we don't want to see you hurt or scared or taken advantage of.
Scott, you are doing the right thing. Just stick to your guns. Be careful yourself. I know the instinct is to protect but you can't do that at all from a cell.......
Oh, Scott - I am really glad that you kept your HANDS to yourself! I was running the other day & came up to a group of walking teens. I had my ipod on, but one of them was making fun of the way I run..I could tell!! I wanted to stop and punch him in the face & make him cry in front of his friends..then I pictured myself gettng hauled off to jail for assault. That would NOT look good. Way to keep your cool, when you had every right to defend your son!!
The boys & girls club looks like a lot of fun! I didn't know Miles was a lefty, so is Cole!
